Technology and digital communication is a permanent fixture in today’s classrooms. It is important that we not only learn how to use the ever-growing selection of social media resources, but also comprehend the consequences of using them inappropriately. Students need a solid understanding of what constitutes their digital footprint, how to use proper online etiquette, and how to approach the concept of cyberbullying.

As a future teacher, it is my responsibility to ensure that my students learn how to be upstanding digital citizens both on and off school property, and prepare them for a digitally connected world. I aim to communicate the “9 Key P’s” of digital citizenship as established by Vicki Davis:

In Module 3, we were asked to gather teaching resources on digital citizenship and cyberbullying via a productivity program (Symbaloo or Pinterest). I elected to use Symbaloo due to its wide acceptance as a teaching resource tool, as well as to broaden my knowledge of productivity tools. Please visit my Symbaloo page and explore the resources I have gathered to assist me in creating a future of upstanding digital citizens.

The following guide reflects the organization of tiles on my Symbaloo page:

Blue = Articles

Red = Videos

Teal = Lesson Plans and Presentations

Orange = Posters

Purple = Dedicated Websites
